After David Kedson became engaged, the Philadelphia computer programmer hit on the idea to combine his career expertise with his growing nuptial planning needs.
The result is ”The Complete Wedding Planner,” a new software package Kedson invented to provide electronic coordination for pre- and post-wedding plans and activities.
”Basically, it saves time and money,” claims David Ableman, marketing director for the Marketing Group of NJ, in Philadelphia, distributors of the product.
The IBM PC-compatible software (a Macintosh version is in the works) can track guests` invitation responses, arrange reception seating, monitor budgeting and organize just about any aspect of the orchestration, Ableman says.
The product is billed as a way for consumers to avoid the cost of hiring a human consultant, though Ableman adds that inquiries about the program have come from professional consultants.
For the couple involved, once the festivities are over, the software also can provide a permanent record of the details, including an address list of those who attended and an itemized list of gifts and givers.
That information also can aid in the event of a parting of the ways, as a worksheet for divvying up possessions. ”Of course, we`re not really advertising that as a benefit,” Ableman adds.
”The Complete Wedding Planner” costs $79.
It`s available at P.O. Box 40335, Philadelphia, Pa., 19106, or by calling 1-800-274-3756.
