– Quick as a bunny:
The power-play goals scored 15 seconds apart by the Hawks` Denis Savard and Adam Creighton Sunday were the fastest consecutive power-play goals in club history.
Publicity director Jim DeMaria checked the records and couldn`t come up with a quicker two goals with a man advantage. But it`s not a stat that they concerned themselves with keeping in the old days.
– If . . .:
If the Hawks make the playoffs, they will play at Detroit next Wednesday and Thursday and host the Wings the following Saturday and Sunday in Games 3 and 4 of the best-of-seven series. The last time the teams met in the playoffs, in 1987, Detroit swept a division semifinal series in four games. But in 1985, the Hawks swept the Wings 3-0 in a best-of-five series in the semis.
– Not so complex:
Goalie Darren Pang can always see a silver lining. ”We`re making simple mistakes,” he said after he allowed a goal he should have stopped Sunday. It gave Calgary a 6-5 lead en route to a 7-5 victory. ”Like my mistake, it was a simple thing. But we can`t have one guy falling off the boat like that.”
