More than a decade after they first appeared, then disappeared, from the the rhythm-and-blues scene, Blue Magic has returned with this surprising blend of soulful ballads and hip-hop. Though they don`t stray far from the romantic mainstream that catapulted them out of Philadelphia in the mid-`70s, they have traded some of their trademark falsetto for a boom-box beat. Though closer to Earth Wind & Fire than Public Enemy, the album marks A fine comeback for one of R & B`s most promising but unfulfilled groups.
