– Initial claims for state unemployment insurance fell nationally on a seasonally adjust-ed basis by 14,000 in the week ended March 18, to 322,000 from an unrevised 336,000 the previous week, the Labor Department said. In the week ended March 11, a total of 2.166 million people were receiving state unemployment benefits, up 60,000 from the previous week. That`s 2.2 percent of all those covered by the program.
