A vote recount is set for Monday in North Palos Elementary District 117, which saw its proposed 75-cent tax increase defeated April 4 by just 11 votes, according to district officials.

Supt. Tom Kostes said ”it`s too hard to tell” whether the recount might help change the results, but he said there have been reports that 18 votes from a Hickory Hills nursing home were never counted in the April 4 tally.

”We`re looking for any irregularities we may find,” Kostes said.

If the recount indicates that the tax initiative passed, Kostes said, the district will reverse its decision to close Quin-Opalinski School.
