A Glendale Heights man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for kidnaping a woman from the Stratford Square parking lot in Bloomingdale and repeatedly sexually assaulting her.
Prosecutors had asked for the maximum 30-year sentence for Frank Post, 36, of 222 Shorewood Dr., but Du Page County Circuit Judge Robert Cox said Tuesday that Post`s lack of a lengthy criminal record ruled out the maximum sentence.
Defense attorney Stephen Baker said Post continues to maintain his innocent. Baker said his client was an alcoholic who ”lived for years in a permanent stupor.”
”I don`t attribute this to the abuse of alcohol,” Cox said. But ”it could have occurred because of his hate for women.”
Assistant State`s Atty. Kathryn Creswell said the attack last March 12
”could have happened to anyone” out doing normal errands.
The victim told Cox that since the crime, in which Post forced her into a car at gunpoint and kept her for 6 hours, she has had problems with drinking, she was unable to hold a job and she is afraid to leave the house alone.
