Andre Dawson got up slowly after a ninth-inning slide Friday night in going from first to third on Vance Law`s single. It was Dawson`s fourth hit in the 4-2 Cub victory, and his right knee obviously is hurting.
”I try not to make it obvious, but every time I slide on that knee or bend that knee, I feel the pain,” he said. ”It`s nothing that`s going to take me out of the ballgame. It just doesn`t feel too good, doesn`t feel comfortable.”
– In the series against the Dodgers in Chicago, Dawson was 0 for 11 and hit only one ball out of the infield.
