Chicago developer Charles Shaw has been presented an Honorary Doctor of Humanities degree from Ball State University, Muncie, Ind.

Shaw, 55, a 1955 graduate of Williams College in Massachusetts, has been in real estate development for 30 years. The Charles H. Shaw Co., established in 1974, has been involved in the development and ownership of real estate valued at $1 billion. A resident of Kenilworth and its former president, he is a member of the Financial Research and Advisory Committee for the City of Chicago.

The Shaw Co. is developer of the 24-acre Northwestern University/Evanston Research Park. The $400 million park will include 1.7 million square feet of laboratory and office space.

Museum Tower, a 52-story condominium complex in New York, and the $180 million reconstruction of the Chicago Hilton and Towers are among the company`s developments.
