The fatal accident that occurred just north of Addison Street on Lake Shore Drive May 21 brought to mind once again the question: Why aren`t concrete lane dividers installed between the northbound and southbound lanes from one block north of Addison to the start of the Irving Park overpass?

Wouldn`t this simple and relatively cheap resolution at least reduce the occurrences of northbound traffic crossing into the opposite lanes?

I believe that this was at least the third major accident in this area in the last 18 months. Won`t this ever stop, or does anyone give a damn about ”an ounce of prevention”?
