How could Ronald Brockman even think of praising a university that exploits the talent of uneducated athletes like Dexter Manley? I agree that talented athletes should have the right to pursue a professional career.
But I find it hard to believe that Oklahoma State University and most other colleges and universities put their athletes` pro careers ahead of making a buck.
Why don`t they use some of the money made from the success of their sports teams to do that for which they were originally established: providing an education for all students?
What happens to Dexter and others in his situation when their natural talent runs out at age 35?
There are only so many TV/radio positions to go around.
