An enthusiastic group of Republicans sent out a letter recently supporting Lynn Martin`s campaign for the United States Senate.
After criticizing incumbent Sen. Paul Simon mildly, they wrote:
”What Illinois needs is a senator who will put the people before his personal agenda, a senator who will be there when key legislation is being considered, a senator with experience on the local, state and national levels who can work from the State House to the White House to represent the views of all of Illinois.”
As I read that ”what Illinois needs” item I thought it must be describing Paul Simon. There is hardly a senator who has had the experience of Paul Simon at local, state and national levels.
I agree heartily with the author on the type of senator we need. Fortunately, we already have one. Let`s keep him.
