A measure that would provide $30 million for improvements at Aurora Municipal Airport has cleared a hurdle by being included in a proposed federal spending plan for fiscal 1990, U.S. Rep. George Sangmeister (D., Ill.)
announced Thursday.
The Aurora projects have been listed as ”top priority projects” under the Airport and Airways Improvement Program in a bill approved by the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation. Final passage of the $30 million disbursal would permit construction of a new parallel runway system, extension of existing runways, land acquisition, expansion of aircraft parking areas and a 52 percent increase in capacity at the Aurora facility.
