The park district has broken ground for a nine-hole golf course. Initial tee time is late summer of 1990. The course will cost nearly $2.4 million, park district officials said, with $1.26 million going for the course and the remainder for a clubhouse, parking lot and maintenance building. The course is on 55 acres east of Halsted Street, south and west of a Cook County forest preserve and north of the Eastgate shopping plaza. Total yardage will be 3,185, with two par-5 holes, five par 4s and two par 3s.
