There is a sad irony in this flag issue. During the presidential election, Bush wrapped himself in it to avoid discussing real issues. Now he is defending its honor against the ”evil” forces that exist in America. He claims the court decision is a disgrace to all those veterans, living and dead, who fought for all the flag represents.
Yet the Bush administration is planning to cut up to $30 million of research funding to veterans` hospitals. If President Bush is so concerned with treating veterans fairly, why would he even consider cutting programs that actually have an effect on our veterans and their well-being?
