How ironic that Gary Orfield`s eloquent plea on July 19 for his daughters` ”rights” includes the phrase, ”I am no supporter of abortion.” Prof. Orfield, if, as you state, you are in favor of your daughters` right to make their own moral decisions, then you must support abortion. Your disclaimer is intellectual cowardice and contributes to a social and political climate in which those rights you seek to protect may well be lost.
