Shirley K. Sands in her letter (Voice, July 17) raises the point that if a mother suspects that her unborn child may not enjoy a sufficently high quality of life, then the mother may have justification for aborting the child.
I have two questions for Ms. Sands. First, how can a mother know what the quality of life for her unborn child will be? Second, does the mere threat of poverty, abuse, neglect, drug addiction or a life of crime provide us with sufficient warrant to kill the person so threatened?
