Actually, Roxy Music`s hits were lamentably few and far between, at least in the U.S.-only a handful of the band`s singles even managed to crack Billboard`s Top 100. In terms of influence, however, the group still casts a long shadow as one of the most intelligent and distinctive British progressive art-rock bands of the 1970s. This retrospective collection teams some of Roxy Music`s best songs from the 1970s and `80s, among them ”Virginia Plain” and ”Love Is the Drug,” with mannered, ennui-drenched outings from lead singer Bryan Ferry`s solo albums.
