Thank you very much for reinforcing sexist stereotypes in your Aug. 15 piece of fluff ”Blues in a white-collar world.” I was beginning to feel too complacent in my role as a person (as opposed to a mere ”woman”) in society. The picture of the two construction workers leering at the blond with the well-rounded figure and moaning about getting no respect was a priceless-or should I say worthless-testament to the fact that women are all too often judged on the smartness of their figures rather than of their minds.
If your goal was to paint a sympathetic picture of the plight of blue-collar workers in a white-collar wasteland, you should have chosen a different approach, because this one provoked only scorn at the ignorance of the construction workers and of The Tribune.
