After reading the article ”Golfers may have to delete their expletives” (Sept. 8), I feel the regulations that the Village Country Club Golf Course is proposing are beyond its powers.

A profanity ban is one of the regulations that are idiotic and also difficult to enforce. First of all, there is no way to enforce a ban on profanity. Other regulations such as no tipping of employees and requiring golfers to carry a bag of sand in their golf bags to fill divots in the sand traps are also silly. If a golfer wants to tip an employee, that is his own prerogative. It is totally uncalled for that a golfer must carry a bag of sand with him-that is what the rakes are for. I strongly hope that the golf course does not try to enforce these ridiculous regulations.
