The new Du Page Convention and Visitors Bureau has received a $6,500 donation from Willowbrook toward the local matching portion of a $50,000 startup grant from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Community Affairs. Diana Thomure, executive director of the bureau, said Monday that Itasca has given $5,000 and pledged more this year from its hotel-motel tax. She said the bureau hopes to get a fixed percentage from the towns with such guest taxes. Itasca previously gave $10,000, Glen Ellyn $3,000 and the Oak Brook Association of Commerce and Industry $250, but none of these qualifies to apply as a matching grant, she said.
