I cannot understand The Tribune`s constant choice of Voice of the people letters or op-ed columns that insist education be an ”either”-”or”
situation. We saw it again in Ron Dorfman`s letter: The Hutchins creed is right, James Conant was wrong. Perhaps I really don`t understand the conflict. Is it true that if we train our students in job skills, we cannot also give the same students a good general education which would include critical thinking?
