Michael W. Bartos, 59, a retired professor of English at William Rainey Harper College in Palatine, died Sunday in Warren, Ark., where he and his wife, Patricia ”Nell,” had gone to teach English as part of a project through Catholic Charities. Mr. Bartos, a resident of West Dundee, earned a bachelor`s degree from De Paul University, a master`s from Northwestern University and a doctorate from Nova University in Florida. He had been a professor at Harper College for 22 years. Survivors, besides his wife, include two daughters, Anne Miller and Mary Witthoeft; five sons, Frank, John, Mark, Jim and Michael; a brother; three sisters; and three grandchildren. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Illinois Highway 72, West Dundee.
