Even the animals are getting into the act: defiance, protest, revolution. The seals on the West Coast decided to challenge-loudly, persistently-humans by taking over the boating slips. No more cowering and dodging.
Then I read of the snakes who, en masse, took over Guam, making themselves right at home everywhere. And there was the coyote that loped casually into Riis Park on Chicago`s Northwest Side, just one of a burgeoning population in these parts making themselves at home in human neighborhoods.
Right on, critters! You too are ”a child of the universe; no less than the trees and the stars (and we humans), you have a right to be here.”
