A Northwest Side cab driver was in serious condition at Lutheran General Hospital, Park Ridge, Thursday after being robbed and slashed in his cab earlier in the day, according to detectives.

Naem Ayyed, 37, of 3711 N. Bernard St., was found outside his cab in the 4500 block of West Montrose Avenue at 4:25 a.m. after he was slashed six times and robbed of $50, said Sgt. Lee Epplen of the Grand-Central Area violent crimes unit.

Ayyed told police that he had picked up two men who then robbed him. With a description provided by Ayyed, two suspects were taken into custody by Albany Park district officers approximately two blocks east of where the robbery occurred, Epplen said.
