John Belushi may be gone, but the Samurai Warrior is still slashin` away. He`s one of several characters, including Jake Elwood and Bluto, that will be represented at the John Belushi Memorial Auction Saturday at Leslie Hindman Auctioneers. Belushi`s characters are as popular today as they were 10 years ago.
”He was a very charismatic, funny person,” a representative said. ”He knew how to make people laugh.” Several Blues Brothers memorabilia, such as the original suits and Belushi`s hat, will be on the block.
There will also be costumes and props from ”Continental Divide,”
”1941” and ”Animal House.” One of the most popular items should be a 1965 Volvo, a gift from Belushi`s widow. Proceeds go to the John Belushi Scholarship Fund, which helps struggling young performers. For a preview of the items, the Auctioneers will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday.
The John Belushi Memorial Auction; Leslie Hindman Auctioneers, 215 W. Ohio St.; 1 p.m. Saturday. $5 auction, $5 preview. 670-0010.
