At a branch of the Chicago Public Library the other night at 6:30 p.m. I saw a father reading a book to his two young boys, who were both smiling, leaning on Dad, and looking at the pictures in ”Birthday Boo Boo,” a book about an alley cat.
Those two boys will be readers when they grow up-they have learned to love books through their father`s attentions. Let`s keep Chicago libraries open on evenings and weekends so working parents can take their children to the library and teach them to enjoy reading!
