Lockport`s first city planner has resigned after eight months on the job. The Plan Commission accepted David Geiger`s resignation Tuesday night.
The city`s explosive growth has led to a debate in recent months about the kinds of residential developments that Lockport should support. On several occasions, the Plan Commission has voted against projects the City Council later approved.
As a result, Geiger ”was in an awkward position,” said Plan Commission Chairman Bud Conklin.
At Tuesday`s Plan Commission meeting, Conklin and commission member Jerry Adelmann praised Geiger. After the meeting, Conklin said that Geiger was considering other job opportunities and that he hoped Lockport will find a new planner within two months.
