I am quite appalled at the obvious lack of interest in and scant coverage of the plight of the refugees in the Persian Gulf.
I could count the times that these 200,000 souls` fate has been mentioned on television and the papers.
And yet all attention is given to a child having shared the limelight with Saddam Hussein and eventually being carried by Rev. Jesse Jackson in a British airport.
The Americans, the Westerners, that`s all I hear. Yet when the media talk about the refugees they`re referred to as Third World labor imports.
Does it ever occur to the American mind that a lot of these refugees have taxpaying, law-abiding American relatives and friends?
I am a resident, I intend to become an American citizen but I`ll be damned if I`ll forget being an Asian.
