Birthday: Oct. 9, 1951.
Birthplace: Newark, N.J.
Current home: Westwood, Calif.
Marital status: Married for seven years to Barbara Capelli.
Car: A 1984 blue Lincoln.
Working on: ”The Robert Wuhl World Tour `90,” which will air on the
”HBO Comedy Hour” in October. I`m also making a movie, ”Missing Pieces,” with Eric Idle. It`s a buddy film.
The last good movie I saw was: ”Cinema Paradisio.” It had charm, an element I find lacking in most films that I see. Not the manufactured charm of ”Pretty Woman” but real charm.
Favorite pigout food: A corned beef and pastrami on rye with Russian dressing and cole slaw. I`m getting cholesterol just thinking about it.
Favorite childhood memory: My dad taking me to the Old Homestead, a real grownup New York steakhouse, then to a private box to see the New York Jets play the San Diego Chargers. The Jets won. I was 12.
I`d give anything to meet: Woody Allen, but I don`t think he has conversations.
The worst part of my job is: You`re always up against time.
The worst advice my mother ever gave me was: ”Bet the house on Sonny Liston.”
The one thing I can`t stand is: People who are apathetic. I find passion sorely lacking today. And also professionalism.
If I could change one thing about myself, it would be: My underwear.
People who knew me in high school thought I was: A wise guy.
Behind my back my friends say: ”He`s so opinionated.”
If I weren`t in show business, I`d love to be: The general manager of a baseball team.
If I`ve learned one thing in life, it`s: Listen to other people, then follow your own instincts.
My most humbling experience: Being fired from a number of jobs, writing projects, acting projects. It feels terrible, but that`s the way it goes.
The one thing everybody has tried but me is: Skiing.
Three words that best describe me: Philanthropic, compassionate and insincere.
