Herschel Walker took a break from the NFL Tuesday and became eligible for world team competition on the U.S. Bobsled team, nearly breaking a track record during push training at the Olympic bobrun.
Walker, who was unable to attend the National Push Championships here in September because of an injury, came within one-hundredth of a second of equaling the track record.
It really didn`t seem like a day off for the Minnesota Vikings running back.
”People have the misconception that this is easy,” said Walker, who now is eligible to compete in the World Cup competition in December. ”There is a lot of technique involved. There is still a lot of room for improvement.”
Walker said his involvement with the bobsled team is aimed at gaining some Olympic glory.
”I want to win a medal, not just take a bobsled ride.”
