Oakland A`s manager Tony LaRussa had to laugh when someone asked him who would be his starting pitcher in Game 1 of the World Series Tuesday.

He jokingly refused to name one, then added, ”If I was a betting man, you count six days and it`s about Dave Stewart`s turn.”

Stewart`s pennant-clinching victory over the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday afternoon was his fifth playoff win, a record. Stewart is 5-0 in the playoffs and 2-1 in the World Series with a tidy 1.98 overall postseason ERA.

He won two games in last year`s World Series and was named Most Valuable Player.
