– Butler 87, St. Louis 74-Substitute freshman guards John Taylor and Jermaine Guice sparked Butler in the Midwestern Collegiate Conference opener for both teams Wednesday night in St. Louis. Taylor scored a career-high 19 points, 13 of them in the second half.

Guice scored all of his 10 points in the second half-eight of them in a 10-2 spurt that put the Bulldogs on top 67-60 with 5 minutes 25 seconds left. John Karaffa added 16 points for Butler (8-5). Kevin Footes led the Billikens (7-7) with 19.

– James Madison 72, Richmond 61-Fess Irvin had 18 points and fueled a first-half run that helped James Madison (6-6, 1-1) to a Colonial Athletic Association victory in Harrisonburg, Va. Richmond is 6-6, 0-2.

– Texas Christian 80, Texas A&M 72-TCU (10-2, 2-0) scored the game`s first 10 points and held off a Texas A&M rally in Southwest Conference play in College Station, Texas. Michael Strickland scored 22 points for TCU. A&M (4-9, 0-3)

was led by Isaac Brown with 18 points.
