Jill Trenary said Tuesday further surgery and rehabilitation will prevent her from defending her title at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships Feb. 12-17 in Minneapolis.
Trenary, 22, of Minnetonka, Minn., said she still hopes to defend her world title March 12-17 in Munich, Germany.
Complications from Jan. 10 surgery to relieve a major infection in an ankle tendon have necessitated minor surgery Wednesday. Following that, Trenary is expected to have her foot in a splint two weeks and be unable to skate before the national championships.
”If I can get this healed, I`ll still have a good four or five weeks to train for the worlds,” Trenary said.
