I was both sickened and saddened by John Husar`s recent column, ”It`s time to champion caws, er, cause of eating crows.” What next? Sparrows, robins? Apparently, Mr. Husar feels that any bird with a ”pest or robber”

reputation condones its being killed and eaten.

I put food out in my yard and all our fine feathered friends are welcome- the glorious crow as well as sparrows, blue jays, cardinals, starlings, etc. I observe them and they all seem to share the food equally.

Have some compassion-the killing of crows is not a sport and does not belong on the front page of any sports section. Shame on you!
