Milton Township Supervisor Herb Wehling said he will ask township trustess to approve borrowing $33,000 from future tax receipts to replenish the township`s general assistance fund through June 1.
General assistance is aid given to people in ”life-threatening”
situations, until more permanent assistance such as Social Security, public aid or unemployment is received.
The township has witnessed unrelenting demand on the fund, Wehling said. In January, $11,976 was given out. He expects to have between $3,800 and $4,100 left in the fund at the end of March. At the beginning of the fiscal year last April, the fund contained $149,000.
