For the second consecutive year, Joliet Junior College students will face a tuition increase when they return to school in the fall. The $3 increase to $29 for each credit hour was approved Tuesday by the board of trustees.
According to Robert Hauwiller, acting director of community relations, the school`s tuition remains slightly lower than the $30- to $32-an-hour rate charged by comparable institutions in the area.
He said a similar increase last year was offset partly by a reduction in some student fees, making the increase less than $1 an hour. Hauwiller said the tuition increase was prompted ”by the perception that we can expect no increase next year in state funding.”
