First-degree murder and aggravated arson charges were filed against a 43- year-old woman Wednesday after a fire at her home killed her brother, police said.

Police alleged that Ruby Brown of 820 W. 53rd Pl. started the fire about 8 p.m. Tuesday. According to Sgt. Francis Lee of the Brighton Park Area violent crimes unit, Brown used the flame of a space heater to set afire crumpled paper and threw the flaming paper into a closet full of clothes.

Brown`s brother, Robert Williams, 47, who was sleeping in a bedroom, died of extensive burns and smoke inhalation, according to a spokesman from the Cook County medical examiner`s office.
