Some of the tidbits gathered at last week`s Cognac Tasting Workshop held at the Big Bar at the Hyatt Regency Chicago: A woman was among the 40 people in attendance because ”there aren`t any cognac tastings in DeKalb.” The bar will soon add to its collection of 45 cognacs a $4,000 bottle. Cognac glasses should not be heated by flame, but warmed in one`s hands. A small group spiritedly argued that a $75 bottle of Armagnac was better than one priced at $100. And everybody got a snifter and Courvoiser VSOP miniature to take home.
