Two big stories in the news recently have been bothering me. In Los Angeles, a group of police officers mercilessly beat a man on a city street. In another part of the world we are returning from a conflict where the body count was 150 us, 50,000-plus them.

The country was shocked and outraged to see the obvious brutality of the L.A. police, but cheers and flags greeted our returning conquering soldiers.

America is being led to believe we can police the world. We are now proud to be Americans, but are we proud to be human beings?
