Sales of foreign cars in Japan dropped sharply in March because of higher interest rates and rising retail prices, but sales of U.S.-made cars rose, the Japan Automobile Importers Association said. Sales of imported vehicles fell 14.4 percent from a year ago to 22,197 units, the third straight month of year-to-year declines after 84 consecutive monthly increases. Sales of cars imported from the U.S. rose 12.1 percent.
