Wheaton and Warrenville residents opposing Commonwealth Edison Co.`s plan to install a 138,000-volt power line along the Illinois Prairie Path will rally Saturday to raise support for their cause.
The rally will begin at 9 a.m. near the gymnasium at Wheaton-Warrenville Middle School.
The school is at 1920 S. Weisbrook Rd., Wheaton.
Rally organizer Bob Rawls said the event will feature speeches by officials including state Sen. Beverly Fawell (R-Glen Ellyn) and Du Page County Board Chairman Aldo Botti.
Rawls is a Warrenville resident and member of the Prairie Path Association.
The protesters will plant an oak tree on the prairie path after the rally, he said.
”We want Edison to know what we`re we doing,” Rawls said.
”We didn`t just go away,” he said.
Edison ignited a furor last month when its crews marked trees with yellow paint for removal to make room for the planned lines.
