Elk Grove Village trustees approved a budget of $34 million for 1991-92 last week.
The general fund for the village is slightly more than $18.3 million, or about 2 percent less than last year`s operating budget.
Salary and wage adjustments were not included in the village`s final budget because village police officers are negotiating their pay rates.
Revenues were down slightly from last year, so belt-tightening was important, according to Village Manager Charles Willis.
The new budget is about 8 percent higher than the 1990-91 budget, but most of the increases are due to capital projects, such as road and traffic signal improvements along Biesterfield Road and the widening of JFK Bridge, village officials said.
