Four aldermen officially have asked the city administration to hire a contractor to pick up recyclable items and deliver them to the county`s intermediate processing facility in Carol Stream starting this summer.
The contractor handling curbside recycling pulled out this spring.
The aldermen are F. Betsy Aldred (1st), Norman T. Reinertsen (1st), Larry Schoenbeck (4th) and Carol Josefowicz (6th).
In a related matter, the city has hired David L. Stauffer as recycling coordinator. He was recycling manager for Monarch Disposal Co. of Elgin.
