To gain better control over construction in the village, Hoffman Estates plans to require the developer who will actually do the work on a project to obtain the approval of the Village Board.
The requirement will put an end to the practice of one developer presenting a plan to the village and then contracting with a second developer to carry out the plan. That practice ”happens enough to be of concern,” said Hoffman Estates Mayor Michael O`Malley, who introduced the idea.
The matter will be before the Village Board next month.
