In an effort to lay the ”Impressions” controversy to rest, the District 15 school board has refused to hear any more public testimony on the children`s book series at board meetings.

”This board has spent the time necessary-literally hundreds of hours-to deal with the issue in a thorough and objective manner,” said board President Terry Francl at a meeting last week. ”We`ve plowed this same old field for seven months, and it`s time to quit.”

Francl abruptly stopped testimony of two women who appeared before the board, saying they were both referring to the series.

The board voted unanimously to continue using the books after a review committee decided they were quality literature.
