Pace is considering canceling Bus Route 664 in Elmhurst. Ridership on the route, which goes from south central Elmhurst to the train station in the morning and evening hours has decreased signifcantly, said Mindy LaFlamme, a spokeswoman for Pace. Last year the bus served 56 riders a day; it now serves 26 a day. Ridership counted in March 1991 showed a 53 percent decrease over 1990.

LaFlamme attributed the decrease to increased commuter parking in Elmhurst. ”People are obviously taking the option of driving,” said LaFlamme. A hearing on the proposal will be held in July.
