A fire early Monday in Buffalo Grove sent a firefighter to the hospital with minor injuries, fire officials said.

The fire started on a deck in the 200 block of Thompson Boulevard about 5 a.m. and spread to the roof, which later collapsed, said Lt. Larry Swieca.

About 18 firefighters from Buffalo Grove, Long Grove, Wheeling and Deerfield brought the fire under control in less than an hour, Swieca said.

A man, a woman and a girl living in the house, whom Swieca could not identify, escaped without injury, he said.

The firefighter, Clark Pound, was treated and released from Northwest Community Hospital`s Buffalo Grove treatment center. Fire officials have not determined the cause of the fire, which resulted in $180,000 in damage, Swieca said.
