Japanese companies are dumping flat-panel display screens used in laptop computers and other equipment on the U.S. market at less than fair value, the Commerce Department ruled. If the independent International Trade Commission decides the Japanese actions harm American manufacturers, the department will begin collecting anti-dumping duties on the imports to make their prices competitive with U.S. products. Japanese companies denied the charges, which had split the U.S. computer industry.
