In doing an in-depth study of Kane County`s Public Health Committee, an incident came to my attention, yielding information which should not be withheld from the public any longer.

Based on reports presented by the Kane County Health Department at two different meetings (June 11 and 24), food served by an Elgin caterer at a May 29 banquet later infected several dozen people with salmonella bacteria.

Although subsequent medical tests confirmed the presence of two salmonella carriers on the staff of this caterer, and this is that caterer`s second, documented involvement in a salmonella outbreak, his name/company name have not been made public knowledge. Actually, his name/company name have not even been divulged in committee or in meeting minutes.

I would release this information myself-if I had it. But, I don`t. And neither does anyone else looking to hire a caterer in the days to come.
