Ford Motor Co. is recalling 8,700 of its 1987 and 1988 model year L, LTL and CL-9000 series heavy trucks with Cummins and Caterpillar engines because of possible radiator gasket leaks. Some 12,500 owners of the 1989 versions of the trucks will be provided with extended coverage of three years or 300,000 miles on the radiators. In a separate action, Ford is recalling 200 of its 1991 F-series, L-series and CF-series medium and heavy trucks because there may be insufficient grease in the inner front-wheel bearings. Without ample grease, the bearings will overheat, causing front-wheel vibration.
